Cyclone Yaas

On 27th May 2021, a severe cyclone storm 'Yaas' entered Jharkhand.  Sphere India, in collaboration with UNICEF India, IAG Jharkhand and other NGOs/Donor Organizations and their partners mobilized volunteers in the affected areas and carried out Joint Needs assessment to identify the overall damage, emerging needs and immediate actions required across 6 sectors: Health, WASH, Shelter, Education, Protection, Food and Nutrition and Livelihood.

Bihar Floods

July/August 2021

Maharashtra Floods

Torrential rainfall in various parts of the state since 22nd July coinciding with high tides and discharge from dams led to floods and landslides across multiple districts in Maharshtra. Maharashtra PECOnet initiated the JRNA exercise to understand the most urgent needs in highly affected districts, by engaging 100 plus local volunteers from Maharashtra PECOnet member organizations with the technical support from RedR India, Sphere India and Unicef field office.

Multi Sector Coordination Handbook for Emergency Response in India

Provides practical guidance and advise on how different stakeholders and sector actors (NGOs, CSOs, UN Agencies and Government) can come together to strategize sector preparedness and response in emergencies.

It highlights key principles of humanitarian action and how coordination and joint efforts among different sector actors can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of interventions and promote better outcomes.

HELP: Humanitarain Emergency Logistics Platform
Strengthening humanitarian logistics facilitation for more effective emergency relief and response.

In response to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and preparedness for the third wave, Sphere India through HELP Platform is working to augment resources and support the users in finding information related to helplines, hospital beds, medical oxygen and other essential medicines. In addition to connecting individuals with relevant resources, we are also compiling the SOPs related to COVID 19 for all life saving sectors.
