Sphere India Verticals

Sphere India recognizes the importance of Sector Committees, Collaborative Advocacy approach, and IAG level intervention in promoting the principles of Quality and Accountability of collective humanitarian action during conflict and disasters. Sphere India ensures dynamic support to NGOs in developing strategic thinking, navigating change while holistically promoting humanitarian principles and virtues.

Our Programme Verticals:
1) Inter-Agency Coordination

The IAC vertical of Sphere India provides a momentous platform for collaboration and coordination in strong preparedness and effective response during emergencies. Key responsibility areas of IAC include IAGs at all level, Go-NGO Coordination, Map resources, common processes for EW, Activation, assessments, joint strategies, joint response, common monitoring and learning. The steering committee comprises of CARE India at the Chairing Position while being co-chaired by various ADRA members, including Caritas India, Oxfam India, Handicap International, World Vision India, and RedR India. Other ADRA members are TDHOH Foundation, Islamic Relief, Child Fund, IGSSS, CRS, Acted India, IPPF South Asia, and Change Alliance.

 

2) Accountability to Affected Population

Accountability to Affected Population serves as a significant vertical for commitment and various mechanisms that ensure continuous & meaningful involvement of communities in decision making during emergencies. Steered by Care India, EHA, Caritas India, and IGSSS, NCDHR, PGVS, ACTED India, World Vision India, UNNATI, and Change Alliance. Some of the most prime activities of AAP consist of balancing the needs of stakeholders in its decision-making processes, good-quality programming practice and concrete result oriented management of the responses.

3) Knowledge and Capacity Sharing

Our aim at KCS is: Collating, researching, and analysing appropriate information, so as to develop impeccable content that ensures enhanced knowledge for the purpose of strong capacity building. The key committee members that navigate this vertical’s activities include Care India, EFICOR, ACF, NCDHR, and Muslim Aid.

4) Collaborative Advocacy

With collaborative advocacy, a numbers of organisations come together and coordinate effective and timely support to the crisis affected population and help people obtain access to humanitarian assistance and maintain their right to dignity. Steered by CARE INDIA, EFICOR, CARITAS INDIA, IGSSS, ACF, IPPF SOUTH ASIA, ACTION AID INDIA, AND CBM. Some of the strategic areas on which CA works include protection and right based advocacy, policy research, analysis and development, media advocacy, people cantered campaigns, and networking with advocacy agencies.
